Take the Pledge. Save the Mother Earth.
Why should we take the pledge to save Mother Earth?
As Buddhists, other than practicing the Dharma in temples, applying the Dharma and integrating it in our daily lives, is also considered as a form of practice. The lifestyle of the modern generation, the lack of concern and respect for the environment, coupled with the greed and ignorance of humans, have caused grievous harm to the delicate balance of the eco-system that built millions of years ago. Humans are not independent and are interlinked with the entire eco-system. The current rate of draining resources these days have made irrevocable damages to the eco-system.
His Holiness Chetsang Rinpoche, holder of the Drikung Kagyu Linage, had said in an interview that “All phenomenon are interdependent. Be it the surrounding environment or trees, there will be impacts on each other. This is also the reason why protecting the environment so important. If you bring harm to a place, which in turns harm others as a result, then ultimately everything will be impacted. This interdependency is Dharma, as whatever all that we can see and touch are part of Dharma.”
Drigar Thubten Dargye Ling cares deeply on the intricate relationship between Mother Earth and human. Hence, during the 6th Ami Dewa Recitation Retreat, we are calling out to all our friends from all over the world to come together to make pledge of doing our part for Mother Earth through our everyday actions, and in the course of doing that, to practice Buddhism through caring for Mother Earth.
